Okay, so.

( Hello everybody, it's Vash the Stampede currently sitting on the floor in his room surrounded by an absolutely mammoth pile of plushies. It's fine, don't worry about it. ) I may not be the guy with all the Christmas knowledge, we don't really have it where I'm from, but I do know the whole point is gift-giving, right? And what do kids need in the gift-giving season? Toys. Now I've done my best at the arcade, won whatever I can, but I think the guy running the place is super out for my hide -. ( A laugh, bright and uncomplicated. It's fine. ) - which means I need help. Because the Orphanage has a whole range of ages, right? And maybe some of them don't want cuddly toys - who am I to judge?

( He is judging a teensy tiny bit, because he thinks cuddly animals are great. )

So toys. I was wondering if anyone had anything they wanted to donate. We had that whole thing with the fake guns, right? ( He pulls a face, but he's going to soldier on. ) And there were those little figures that one time. If anyone's got anything they don't want anymore that we could fix up to give to those in need that would be really great. Or if anyone wants to try their hand at the other machines, I guess as long as it's not me the owner can't be too pissed. Anything would be super appreciated. They deserve something nice too, you know?

( And while he's aware that some people here are angrier about the Transylvanian orphans than others, he's hoping everyone secretly has a good heart down deep. )

Yep, that's me. Come in, come in. Sorry about the mess, finding somewhere for these plushies without the kids spying them means I have so many of them.

( They're all fully heaped up. Vash just laughs sheepishly. )

I want it to be a surprise since most of them aren't expecting anything.

[He will make sure to carefully avoid any plushes so that they don't get stepped on.]

Do you have a table I can put this on?

[He asks, as he holds up the box of cards he's brought here.]

Oh, shoot, hang on.

( He shifts to brush aside a veritable mountain of crap from his table, old whiskey bottles and stacked books, trinkets he's been tinkering on. It gives his new friend a place to put everything down, which means Vash is bouncing a little with excitement. )

You know, I don't know about the kids but I'd be pretty stoked with trading cards. I think it'll be fun for them. I bet I could divide them up a little so they get to try and barter with each other. Friendly though. It'd be a good learning experiment for them, and it would get a bit more conversation going. We have some shy ones.

[At that, Manjoume actually smiles a little.]

Yeah, I agree: I mean, I love Duel Monsters, which is the most popular trading card game out there where I'm from. So I'm sure that there are kids out there who would get excited about collecting cards in this place too.

[He opens the box, and it looks like while he hasn't divided them up yet, Manjoume did put all these kitty cards in little sleeves to help keep them in good condition.]

At the time I don't think I found any cards in here that were apparently considered super rare, so we should be able to divide them all up in a way that's fair and doesn't start any conflicts just because one kid somehow randomly got the best card out of the pile or something...

[No playground fights over a kid with a holographic first edition ~~charizard~~ hollyleaf warrior cat should occur, he thinks.]

Oh, they're like tiered? The only card games I know are like, go or fish. I've never seen a trading one.

( He understands the concept, kids will barter with anything. He's certainly come across his fair supply of knick-knacks in his day, willingly parted with items for bottlecaps or cool feathers just to entertain some children. So he gets it. And he might be peering at the cards in interest himself. )

Oh, this one's real cute.

Yeah, or at least I assume they are? They certainly look like the type that would be considered collectibles either for kids who want to get all of the different cats or has a specific one in mind they want to own because its their favorite or whatever.

[But he doesn't actually know for certain, since he's not familiar with this game.]

I'm not really that interested in collecting cute cats like these but the kids will probably think they're cute so it works out.

It does. I really do appreciate it. And I'll have to make it up to you somehow, right? One good turn deserves another!

( Snacks, maybe. His go-to is donuts. )

[At that, Manjoume looks a little flustered.]

Oh, uh... you don't have to do that, it's fine. I mean, you're already helping me by taking these off my hands and giving them to kids who will appreciate them more than I do, rather than just gathering dust in my room...

No, no. I gotta! Do you have a favourite snack? What about donuts?

( His go-to when it comes to his friends and gifts. )

Donuts? Huh... I don't think I've had any in a while, I guess...

[Luckily for Vash, this is an easy go-to that will work on Manjoume here.]

What's your favourite kind?

( Because there are A Lot in Neo Tokyo. He's discovered that for himself. )

Good question... I like chocolate, I guess? Or even just regular glazed donuts? I haven't really branched out to any flavors too far out there...

Some of them are really wild, right?

( As a sprinkles donut kind of guy, the sheer amount of new donuts had been daunting. The same with most foods, actually, considering how scarce things on No Man's Land were. )

I had one that tasted like coffee and you'd think because those two things separately were really good, it would be the best, right? But no. So I'm sticking to dipping one into the other instead.

Oh really? That's disappointing to hear.

[Manjoume likes coffee, but hearing that coffee-flavor donuts are not good... thats sad.]

What do you think of jelly filled ones? Or creme filled? I think I prefer the latter or without any filling if given the choice but maybe this place has good fillings...

Oh, yeah! Those are great. You just have to be super careful where you bite.

( He gives a wild little grin, sharing Manjourne in on his misfortune. )

I spilled half the thing down myself the first time. It was devastating.

Tragic. Hope you weren't wearing any shirts you liked when that happened.

[Then again, Manjoume... probably would be a slob and say that its fine if it had gotten on his own coat by comparison, because black hides almost everything.]

It was black, so I was okay.

( The Worst. )

Oh yeah, then you'd be fine. Black practically hides anything.

[These two should not be allowed to have an opinion on this.]

That's what I thought! See, you were already looking like a guy to know but this? This just makes it certain.

( Pointing to fingers to his eyes, and then two Manjourne's way, like they're on the same wavelength. )

And these cards really do look great. The kids are gonna love them.

[That actually gets a softer, more genuine smile out of Manjoume here.]

Good. At some point, I'd like to get some Duel Monster cards--the kind I enjoy--made for people to collect and play with here too, but I'm glad these ones at least are going to be appreciated.

Oh, what's duel monsters?

( Because he's endlessly curious about other people, and Manjourne is offering up some aspect of himself by wanting to commission it. )

It's a card game from my world. Here, I'll show you...

[Manjoume always carries his deck on him, so it only takes a few seconds to take his cards out and show them off to Vash here. He has some strange gremlins, some machine-looking ones, and dragons, the latter of which he points to.]

I don't know if you've ever seen the way I work here during kaiju missions, but I've got something called a Duel Disk that lets me create and use projections based on my Duel Monster cards. Normally it's used to play the game and make it more fun and exciting, but if you've ever seen any glimpses of monsters that look like this punching at kaiju or trying to shield people, those are mine since they seem to work at confusing the kaiju into thinking they're real for a little while.

( He's just in Manjourne's space now, looking at all of the cards with wide eyed enthusiasm. )

I've seen a dragon during some of the missions, but it maybe wasn't yours? That's really cool though, man. Do they feel real? Or is it just a projection? It'd probably work on me either way. ( A laugh. ) You'll have to show me sometime! In a fight! Or, oh! The projection rooms.

It's a projection that's created using hard light specs generated by the Duel Disk, so they can in fact be touched and feel rather realistic, even though they're not and thus have no actual life or personality to them.

[A statement that hurts a little to think about these days, in regards to the Duel Spirits back home that were real and had personalities, but are missing from his cards now while he's been stuck here in Neo Tokyo for the past year. Regardless--]

But yeah, sure, I can show them off to you whenever and wherever you want, I'd just have to grab the Duel Disk from my room to do it.

Oh, that sounds neat!

( He doesn't know enough of Manjourne to know if there's a change in his tone or not, but Vash is clearly very excited to think about it. He rocks a little on his heels, curious and thoughtful all at once, beaming. )

I have to be at the orphanage in a little while, but maybe soon? If you don't mind me hitting you up for a demonstation.
