[ well, that's quite the mental update. while ishmael isn't reeling from the download's sappy effects, she is in the mood to yap and gossip -- which is typically unlike her at all. and so, while they're all still waiting for the download to finish, she's got this to ask on their shared network. ]

Looks like this is going to take a while. And I know that most of us here were haunted by certain dreams a while back, me included. It's something I've already gone through back home so I'm not too bothered with it now, but I'm going to go ahead and ask anyway.

What are some of your happier memories?

That's probably easier said than done, though. You don't even have to think too far back and just share whatever made you happy since coming here. It's corny, sure, but we could definitely need some cheering up after all that on top of this horribly hot weather.

Of course, if you're too shy to share them to everyone in the class, I get it. I know I am. You can just tell me privately if you trust me that much, or you don't have to say anything at all and just read or react to everyone's contributions instead. Also if anyone's gonna come here to say shit like "Oh I'm not gonna share anything :/" then do us all a favor and not waste our time. Thanks. 👍

The past month leading up to this has been something, hasn't it? But it's been fun. Eclectic, but LILITH has managed to gather quite the crowd of delightful companions. That, and just being able to see the sunrise, the sunset, and the night sky day after day is terribly precious. I don't think anyone's looking for particularly grandiose answers here.

The sunrise and sunset are pretty unique on this planet. I don't get down to Earth much. And even the one time I did aside from now, it was for work, just like this.

[ Since, as anyone who knows Yzak even for a short time knows, he's nearly always in work mode.

Back then, I did manage to find the time to go browsing at a market on the island we were on. [ Snuck onto, but, details. ] I came across a local who was selling good luck charms and all sorts of things like that. So I picked some up for myself and my teammates, and they appreciated the gesture.

[ One of the rarer times where Yzak wasn't being aggressive and horrible to half of his allies. But even then his tsundere moments were fewer and farther between because he was an awful little goblin boy. ]

[ Oh! A pre-LILITH memory. The bar's gotten so low, man, so low. LILITH be like we can stuff so many tragic backstories into this bad boy of a squad, you don't even know. ]

Haha. It's always a pleasant feeling knowing someone's thinking about you. I'm sure they did.

Coincidentally, that'd be a happy memory for me, too, being able to send old and new friends alike memorabilia from various travels. Have you found any other keepsakes for yourself while we're in Las Vegas?

[ He hopes they did. Especially considering one of them died in the battle that took place right after they left. And for a mountain of other reasons, he still carries a hefty amount of guilt around that time and that person. Gundam, where even nice memories have a bunch of depressing bullshit attached to it. ]

It's a bit of a hobby of mine, to find things like that in the places I visit. Something that reflects the place's culture or history.

[ It's true… Gundam: the series where they make even the most innocuous and mundane things sad, or they make you happy to specifically make you sad later. Still, if there's one thing Elysium's quickly learning, it's that their forced conscription has been quite the boon for more than several people. ]

A lot about this place is so far up its own ass that it's hard to find something unique, and not just something being peddled out for a quick buck to gullible people.

So I settled on a book I found about the folklore and history of this place.

Not bad, not bad. Have you had a chance to read it? From what I've gleaned, this place is otherwise known as Sin City. Hard not to get a little interested in its history after hearing something like that, admittedly.

Not much. We got pretty busy soon after I picked it up.

Plenty of its current features make it pretty obvious why it got a nickname like that, though. While a lot of aspects of this place have been altered to adhere to current laws and "cleaned up" so to speak, it used to get away with a lot more illicit things. Gangsters owning casinos, prostitution, illegal alcohol distribution when there was a prohibition on it, violence due to said gangsters running things.
