Ereshkigal was focused on the fight. She was unfortunate that the kaiju struck her in a way that caused her to fall into the rift.
It was going for me. If there were only stone and sand where she fell, it would have been just another battle injury.
She wanted to help a friend. Isn't that what teammates do?
